CHANTIERS PIRIOU wins a call for tenders in Algeria:

CHANTIERS PIRIOU, PIRIOU's shipbuilding branch in Concarneau, based in the Finistere area of France, has just won an international call for tenders in Algeria initiated at the beginning of 2009 by GICEP (Groupement d’Intérêt Commun des Entreprises Portuaires) for the construction of four 72-ton port operation tugs.

These 32-metre vessels, which have 72-ton pulling power, are to be delivered between autumn 2011 and spring 2012. They will be used by the public companies that operate the ports of Alger (1), Arzew (2) and Skikda (1). The service also includes the training of the crews in the operation of the ships.

The 4 tugs will be wholly built in Concarneau.

These contracts are the logical continuation of the 5-tug repair contract awarded in 2009 by the Algerian ports to PIRIOU NAVAL SERVICES, PIRIOU's repair branch in Concarneau. This sequence of events is further proof that repair and construction are highly complementary activities.
